The first Big XII conference matchup for the Baylor Bears is this Saturday at Floyd Casey stadium. I believe it’ll be a pretty even matchup as Kansas is 2-2 and Baylor is 3-1 into the season. At Monday’s media day, Coach Briles voiced that he believes the Bears are definitely moving in the right direction after the game in Houston vs. Rice last Saturday. When asked about how he thinks Kansas is doing as far as their season, we all chuckled when he responded, “My peripheral vision doesn’t work during football season, I’ve got my eyes on one team only.”
Thus far, Robert Griffin III has thrown for 971 yards with 8 TD’s, and KU quarterback Jordan Webb has thrown for 625 yards with 9 TD’s. The home advantage will obviously put us ahead of the Jayhawks, but I think the real difference derives from the outlook of the game. The Baylor Bears are playing relentlessly with a move-forward attitude this campus loves witnessing. Only three conference wins away from a bowl game, the Bears are hungry for Saturday.
Kendall Wright and his hands are a crucial element to slicing through Kansas defense this weekend. The Jayhawks took a road trip to Southern Miss last weekend and rocked back on their heels against the fast-paced offense. Bear fans are expecting Griffin to sling it up the field and do nothing other than rock chalk it all the way to the endzone on Saturday.
David Ubben of ESPN Big XII blog predicts Baylor will win over Kansas, 34-24.
